The Upside Down Christmas Tree
When you want to add a little frivolity to the Christmas list, add a search for an upside down Christmas tree. What once started out as a unique and quite out of the ordinary tree is finding its place in more and more homes. To be sure, anyone who selects a tree that hangs from the ceiling or has the top of the tree as the base must have a sense of humor or very little space — maybe a combination of both.
The lighter weight upside down Christmas trees actually hang from the ceiling, much like a chandelier. Of course, most of those that hang are much smaller than our regular six or seven foot trees. Whether used as lighting or as the primary tree, it must be assumed that these fun trees are untraditional.
For those who have an idea that hanging the tree from the ceiling could be fun, we have selected a few of our favorites.
Other trees that are upside down are larger, the size of our usual Christmas trees, but with the tip of the tree secured in a base. Maybe it is an indication of a lifestyle or our economic times. Whatever it represents, the upside down tree is available in a variety of sizes, colors, and come with lights or ready to add lights.
For those who may be undecided:
- Does not take up as much floor space as traditional tree
- Adds a touch of fun
- Great for the kids room
- Let’s the guests know not to expect perfection from the Christmas dinner
- Prevents most cats from climbing the tree
- Will not topple over
- and may make Uncle Joe decide to stop drinking!
